Best Binoculars for Birding

If birding is your thing then you know that you will spend hours on the trail of birds in the bush or hiking all day. You can’t do this and sometimes even take notes with a heavy pair of binoculars with you. For an all-day excursion such as bird watching, you need something powerful and light. In many cases, you also want to consider carrying something that easily fits in your palm. A good choice for this especially for people on a budget is the five stars rated Nikon trailblazer. The compact binoculars are light and cheap and deliver very good performance. Take for instance that the binocular can zoom up to 10X. This means you can get to see details including plumage on a small bird from a reasonable distance say 100 yards. The field of view at this distance is over 342 ft. This means the binocular can be used to scout the bushes and trees while you listen to the birds calling.

Most binocular review sites are very technical and provide a plethora of information. This is great, but may be too much for the first time birder. As a beginner you may feel overwhelmed with all the information out there, and a little confused. This site is intended to be simple, a Best Binoculars for dummies if you will.

If you are a die-hard ‘twitcher’ (someone who lives and breathes birds and will literally go to the far end of the earth to see an obscure warbler that was very sadly thrown off its usual course through some very bad weather), you may find this site a bit basic. Although we hope you will still find something of interest here and maybe contribute with your views about the best binoculars for you. Please, feel free to comment!

Why Do You Need Binoculars?

Maybe you have always liked seeing the birds in your garden, backyard, or your local park, and finally decided that you would like to be able to identify these interesting creatures around you and beyond. You may sometimes feel the frustration of having a bird in your sight but missing it as it suddenly (and without notice!) jolts away into the undergrowth, or flies to the top of a tree. You then have no idea what you are looking at. You need binoculars!

Why Is Best Binoculars For Bird Watching For You?

You may feel you don’t know a lot about the subject of ornithology but you like to enjoy watching birds when you are out and about or on holiday. Or you may be someone like me who used to have bird watching as a passion and as the kids are now grown up, you have a bit more free time and you want to get back onto the saddle so to speak. Best Binoculars for Bird Watching will help you choose your dream pair of bins.

What Do You Need From Binoculars?

Binoculars are an essential tool for ‘birders’ (people who like to watch birds). Serious birders are very demanding of their optical equipment that us ’normal’ folk don’t necessarily need. They like the best binoculars to be able to cover a wide range of situations. But this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t also have the best optical equipment for your needs!

What you need however will be dictated by how you want to enjoy bird watching. For example, do you want a pair of ‘go to’ binoculars to take with you everywhere? Or, do you envisage you may only want to get your binoculars out when you go on holiday, or weekends away in the country?

Regardless as to how you would like to use your binoculars, you will definitely want some flexibility. Here are some of the key features that I would look for in a set of ideal binoculars, that you may wish to consider:

  • Weight – you will not want them to be heavy, not necessarily ‘lightweight’, but, not heavy!
  • Comfortable – comfortable enough so that you are aware they are there, but not to interfere with your day
  • Easy to use – easy to track birds and easy to focus
  • Have the right magnification – not too high as this makes them more difficult to use
  • Quick to focus, show the colours and detail – you want to see the birds in their full glory
  • Street cred! They must be sexy! They have to look good, and it is sort of fun to see other birders who binocular envy!

Best compact Binoculars

If you love the outdoors for sport or just the fresh air a good pair of binoculars always comes in handy. If you stay out long or work in a large area such as a sports arena then a binocular could become a valuable addition to help you keep an eye on things. However, a very large pair may not suit you due to the fact you carry lots of other equipment. Take a construction site manager for example, a huge pair is just a burden given all the schematic diagrams you often will be carrying.

For frequent use with high power many people prefer compact binoculars. These are typically able to fit in a pocket and deliver very good quality imaging. The best of the compact range may even surprise you with what they can deliver. Take the Nikon Aculon for instance that can perform 24X zoom over a reasonably wide field of view. This pair ensures you can get top quality image enhancement and minimal burden. The product is also offered with a free carry case and handy strap.

Buying Guide for best Binoculars

For outdoor excursion like birding the weight of binoculars is major consideration due to which some birders prefer compact models. The heavy models with a neck strap easily weigh 20-28 ounces more and will cause fatigue within a few hours in the field. Though this can be reduced by changing the strapping carrying anything above 25 ounces in weight without specialized carrying equipment is not advisable.

Another consideration worth making while using binoculars s the body shape and covering. This is one of the main reasons why compact models continue to be the preferred choice above traditional roof porro models. Given that birding is a long and possibly all day activity you need something that fits comfortably and easily in your hand. The easier it is to handle the less tiring you will get in the course of the day. It is also important to get a pair that offers good eye relief. A set of binoculars that has your eye plastered on the lens will not do for long hours outdoors.

Best Giant Binoculars

Giant binoculars are perfect for very long range viewing. However due to their size they are often difficult to carry and are best used in stationary position on a tripod. Among one of the main reasons these binoculars are used include bird watching. For anyone passionate about birding the hobby is hard to drop even in old age. However good giant binoculars can ensure you maintain your hobby from the comfort of your front porch or any good location at home.

Binoculars with the larger lens measuring above 26″ are often considered in the giant range. Among the good buys in this category include the Celestron Skymaster with the capacity to zoom up to 15X over a very wide field of view. For the price offered this pair can compete with some of the highest quality binoculars such as the Fujinon brand.

Best Children’s Nightvision Binoculars

For children nightvision is fun and exciting but in many cases, it’s difficult to find something suitable that doesn’t cost too much. While something to do nightvision observation for adults may cost as much as $500, there is a great option for children that allows them to get decent nightvision for about $50. The eye clops is a perfect toy and educational game for children. It allows them three preset modes that make it easy to use without too much fidgeting. The binoculars also allow them to record either video or photos of what they see using a micro SD card. In addition to night vision it has a mode that imitates thermal imaging. All modes work reasonably well at a range of 50 yards.

Watching wildlife by Night

If you love bird watching or watching wildlife and have developed an interest in this activity you may be lured outside to catch a glimpse of some of the nighttime visitors and activity. Just like daytime birding, the night requires appropriate equipment. For instance, if you know a place where to find the great horned owl the best and probably only way to see it will be a nighttime excursion.

For birders, they know that this owl is the most commonly found species in North and South America. This means you may not have to go far to find one, just interacting with a fellow birder may reveal a few local locations. The bird gets its name from the long tufts of feathers that adorn its head easily confused with horns. Unlike many bird species, this is the master of adaptation and can be found anywhere from treeless tundra to an average city park.

This bird is relatively small in size though it is the third-largest owl. In height, the horned owl will stand between 18 and 25 inches tall. The wingspan on the other hand can be as much as 60 inches across. Females are generally larger than males.

One of the reasons this bird is so interesting is its entirely carnivorous diet. The bird is an extremely stealthy stalker who somehow just glides in unsuspectingly and corners her prey. Her diet will include rats, small birds (even smaller owls), cats, small dogs and even fish. In addition to watching them hunt, the birds are monogamous and make great parents. Watching a couple of raise chicks is indeed something to remember. The parents take turn to sit on the egg and hunt prey as well as chasing away intruders. The owls will easily attack even humans who venture too close to their nest. In addition to the owls, nighttime birder may also take interest in observing migration or wildlife such as wolves.

Night Vision Technology

To accomplish these nighttime excursions birding, one will require some form of night vision binoculars. Depending on the degree to which such investigation is to be carried out you could choose between infrared technology, thermal sensing cameras or image intensification binoculars.

The cheapest and most commonly used are the models that use image intensification technology. In nature, human eyes are poor in the dark due to the absence of a tapetum lucidum. This membrane common in many other mammals reflects light leaving only what is necessary. Because of this ability, these mammals can use the little light reflected at night from the moon to see clearly. This explains the greenish images in night vision equipment, essentially invisible light reflect off objects in the dark.

On the other hand, infrared binoculars may be used. This fires infrared rays which can be seen by the viewer using the device outlining the objects in the dark. The last option is thermal imaging devices which will allow the enquirer to observe the thermal signature.

The Bushnell H2O 10 42 Porro Prism Impresses Review

Bushnell BSH134211 H2O Series 10x42 Wp/fp Porro Prism Binoculars
  • Porro Prism binoculars
  • Textured grip
  • Waterproof & Fog proof
  • Bak-4 Prism eyecups
  • 100% waterproof, O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged for reliable, fog-free performance

Bushnell H2O 10×42 Porro Prism Waterproof/Fogproof Binoculars have arrived and they are quite impressive. No matter if you are a novice to binoculars or you have long since been using them for professional and hobbyist pursuits such as bird watching, you will find these binoculars to be tremendously helpful. They can work effectively in all manner of different environments and can withstand whatever the elements throw at them.

The features and specs of these particular binoculars quickly reveal all the reasons why they have to be considered a top purchase for anyone serious about buying a top-quality pair of binoculars. While not necessarily perfect, the Bushnell H2O 10×42 Porro Prism does have much to offer. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

As the name implies, these binoculars are designed to be both fog proof and waterproof, ideal for bird watching in all weathers. This also makes them perfect use in areas where the elements will be a serious concern.

You can even use them when you are in the water. Such attributes should never be taken lightly because adverse weather conditions can lead to safety hazards. Would you want visibility problems with your binoculars in such a situation? The odds are strong that you would prefer your binoculars maintained clear and proper visibility at all times. This model of binoculars is much more likely to deliver on such expectations than products released by other manufacturers.

One reason this is so is that it is nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed which locks all moisture out of its interior. This prevents all manner of fogging and other such issues from impacting your ability to see through the lenses.

This is not to say that the binoculars will never falter. In severe conditions, you might find the lenses do experience some fogging. That could prove to be enormously disappointing and it is critical to understand there may be scenarios where the binoculars do not always live up to expectations.

One way to reduce problems with the binoculars is to always maintain a safe grip on them. To enhance the potential for this, Bushnell has designed the binoculars with rubber armoring with textured pads. This makes the ability to handle and hold the binoculars much easier. Granted, there may be a few complaints about the comfort levels of holding the binoculars. Most will agree though that the grip issues really are not that problematic.

What about the actual view seen through the binoculars? The magnification is quite impressive. The specific magnification level is 10x the original image which can certainly enhance the viewer’s potential to clearly examine what appears in the lens.

The inclusion of multi-coated optics and premium-quality BaK-4 prisms further enhances the visuals these binoculars present. In particular, the images you will see will be in pristine, crystal clear detail. The sharpness of the image will surprise even those that have owned truly impressive binocular models in the past.

There is an excellent range of vision adjustment with the Bushnell H2O 10×42 Porro Prism as well. Sometimes, you need to share your binoculars with someone else in your adventure troupe. Of course, different people have a different vision so the binoculars will need to be adjusted. This particular model of binoculars can easily be adjusted with a few minor steps. And yes, you can focus on these binoculars quite easily as well.

Just be mindful of the twist-up eyecups. They are “okay” in design but that is about it. The comfort level and the stability of the eyecups are fine but they could use a bit of improvement.

The Bushnell H2O 10×42 Porro Prism also comes with adequate neck straps and a carrying case with straps. These are quite fine although some may wish to purchase more durable or even custom cases or straps. Most will find them to be perfectly acceptable so it is not mandatory to purchase additional accessories of this nature.

It is not exactly a secret that the main thing people will want in any binoculars is a quality product that delivers on all performance expectations. Bushnell H2O 10×42 Porro Prism Waterproof/Fogproof Binoculars definitely deliver if not over-deliver in this regard. For those who want top-quality binoculars that can handle all manner of different difficult environments without compromising visibility, this is the model to purchase.

Bushnell Powerview Compact Folding Roof Prism Binocular Review

Bushnell Powerview Compact Folding Roof Prism Binocular
  • Rubber covered
  • Nonslip rubber armor Absorbs shock & provides a firm grip
  • Roof Prism compact

The powerview binoculars are considered the best based on its varied specs and suitable design. The binoculars are designed using roof prism technology which generally delivers better and crisper images than porro technology. The coated optics used is the reason for this clarity. In many cases the casing of a product will influence how it feels in the palm. A rubber coating used on the Bushnell gives it a comfortable grip even after prolonged use. Given that the largest dimension Bushnell 32″ is not quite compact, the carry case and strap is definitely a plus for this product. These accessories ensure you will not tire of carrying it all day in the bush. All models provide eye relief of 9-12 which is appropriate for use even with glasses.

Comfortable eye relief.

Bushnell Natureview Series Binoculars Review

This review focuses on the Natureview Series 8 X 40 Birder . It is meant for the beginning birdwatcher. The specifications and user’s reviews include:

Magnification of 8 X 40 mm Objective lens: With 8 magnifying power, the binoculars are able to enlarge objects, such as birds, eight times the size of the original when seen by the naked eye. This is an ideal power for bird watching. As for the objective lens, 40 mm is adequate to let light into the binoculars to make images bright and clear for all times, except early morning or late evening.

Close focusing distance is 14 feet: Many reviewers of the product use it for observing birds in their backyards from their windows. Furthermore, urban birders use them to observe birds from their apartment windows. They have found these binoculars to be ideal.

Multi-coating lens: This means they have an anti-reflective multi-layer coating on one of the lens’ surface. Multi-coating lenses reduce glare and improve contrast of the object, and as a result, the object will appear brighter.

Field of view at 1000 yards is 365 feet: This indicates the area that can be seen while looking through at the binoculars. It is related to magnification, as greater magnification creates a narrower field of view. When viewing a moving object, a large field of view is desirable.

Eye relief is 14 mm long: This refers to the distance your eye can be from the eyepiece and see the entire field of view. 14 mm are ideal, if you are wearing eyeglasses as these binoculars are designed with long-eye relief. Additionally, many eyeglass wearers are happy the eyecups conveniently fold down to get the objective lens closer to their glasses.

5.0 mm in exit pupil: This is the diameter of the exiting image as it leaves the binoculars and enters your eye. The 8 X 40 magnification will have an exit pupil of 5 mm.

BK-7 prism glass: The prism glasses of these binoculars are made from BK-7, or borosilicate glass, which have a squared-off exit pupil compared to BAK-4, or barium crown glass, which produces a circular exit pupil.

24.8 oz in weight: Some users have found them heavy and bulky to carry, especially for field use, or when carrying around their neck on the strap.

Adapted to a tripod: If you are planning to observe birds in one place for a long period of time, these binoculars can be mounted on a tripod. This is convenient as the tripod will relieve your hands from holding the binoculars.

Centered focus system: Center focus is fast and easy to use. This system will save your time as you want to set your binoculars as soon as possible for bird watching.

Porro prism system: This binocular uses a porro prism as the objective of the front lens is offset from the eyepiece. Additionally, this design provides a great depth perception and offers a wide field of view. It is simple and provides the best value for a bird watcher.

Not waterproof and fog proof: The binoculars are not suitable for birdwatching from a boat or near water as compared to other Bushnell models. However, this may not be a problem if you are birdwatching from a dry or covered area.

Affordable: These binoculars are inexpensive compared to other brands.

Durable for occasional use: They are high quality and have become the top choice of many beginning bird watching enthusiasts. However, they are not the best choice for field trips and heavy duty use as they cannot sustain abuse.

Although the 8 X 40 Bushnell Natureview binoculars are bulky and might be heavy for some users, not water and fog proof, they are ideal for the beginning birdwatcher. With their long extended eye relief, this product is perfect for eyeglasses wearers. Furthermore, this device has a textured center-focus knob for easy and precise adjustment. They are affordable for your use or as a gift to a beginning birdwatcher.

Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Compact Folding Roof Prism Binoculars Reviews

Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Compact Folding Roof Prism Binoculars, 10 x 25-mm, Black
  • Lightweight rugged magnesium chassis
  • Ergonomically designed double hinged closed bridge
  • Close focus distance 6.0'
  • 10x magnification, 25-millimeter objective compact folding roof prism binoculars with premium carry case, neckstrap, microfiber lens cloth, and deluxe binocular harness
  • Exceptional optics with BaK-4 prisms, ED Prime Glass, Ultra Wide Band Coatings, and RainGuard HD water-repellent lens coating

An outdoor sporting event is about many things and when I go out to any such event I need to have good equipment. I cannot look cheap when meeting a prospect so I have to make sure everything…including my binoculars says the same about me. The Bushnell legend is average priced so it’s not tacky but nothing from a sci-fi flick either it just right. I love the outdoors but rubber tends to look childish so I prefer the black sleek magnesium casing on these binoculars. Nobody likes to be snooped on so the small size, below 5″ in length is just what I need. I can bring it out of my jacket and watch anything from what the fans are wearing to banner wording without attracting attention.

I guess I like the legend ultra HD because it combines compact with performance. Within any sports arena, 10X Zoom is just what you need, it can read even a tee shirt worn by a group from a reasonable distance. I often have to come up with catchphrases and the arenas are my hunting ground. Occasionally I have to come dressed all business-like and this is where the premium carry case is perfect. This is common on actual launches. Once seated the legend can also help me keep an eye on how the marketing team is doing. The roof prism technology means images are crisp. The rainproof protection also keeps my binoculars safe in bad weather.

Fits in all pockets.
Nice metallic finishing.
Good quality accessories.

Warranty could be better.

Nikon Trailblazer 10×25 ATB Waterproof Black Binoculars review

Nikon 10x25 Trailblazer
  • Bright, Multicoated Optics
  • Roof Prism Design
  • Smooth Central Focus Knob
  • Waterproof and Fogproof

Research with the best compact binoculars: When beginning my shopping for the best compact birding binoculars I was advised to go for the Nikon trailblazer. I am new to my job and my research on the environment requires gathering data on birds. I needed something mostly that could allow me to identify patterns within the flock and was not willing to spend too much on the pair. The reason well honestly research sucks. I sometimes wonder why I even bother…well that’s not true. I am passionate about nature but getting finance to protect species is only possible after research. So I just had to get the job done…no need for anything fancy. At the same time, I was concerned about protecting my purchase and for once I am glad I opened my mouth to say so. Many times we leave great warranties just for being afraid to ask. Thumbs up, Nikon.

Features and Rating

To set us off my research is self funded in all respects. I have selected a sample population to observe during down time…ducks if you are curious. The pollution in parts of the park is deploring and I am unsure if the problem is garbage collection or problems recycling. While gathering data on garbage disposed by visitors I can get to estimate if the garbage collected is staying too long or the volume is too large. With this I can hypothesize on issues finding dumping grounds or recycling plants. To kill time in between note taking I watch the ducks and have noted peculiar feeding and I guess grooming habits. In time I have come to love my binoculars as I can even tell if it’s the same birds. I spend hours observing and can’t take a second job let alone replace this perfect pair of binoculars. The best part is they come with a lifetime warranty.

Like I said I spend hours in the park, the 10X Zoom is perfect for observing how many people chuck beer cans or other garbage in the park. The best binoculars for such research has to have great zoom capability as you don’t want people asking question about the notes you are taking. I have never had to stay through the rain but I am glad the binoculars are waterproof. The trailblazer is rubber coated and the grip is comfortable and firm. Despite its compact size it works well in daylight and has a wide field of view 342 ft @ 100 yards.

The trailblazer is very light.
Great for outdoors in all weather conditions.
Perfect warranty.

Lacks any accessories.

Nikon 7294 Monarch ATB 8×42 Binoculars Review

Nikon 7294 Monarch ATB 8x42 Binocular
  • Waterproof/Fogproof
  • Dielectric High-Reflective Multilayer Prism Coating
  • Fully Multicoated lenses & Phase-Correction Coated Prisms
  • Multi-Setting Click Stop Eyecups

There are many different reviews for the best bird watching binoculars. Here’s one I found that offers a good all round review of the Nikon 7294 Monarch ATB 8×42 Binoculars.

Nikon is known worldwide for its manufacture of optical performance products.

The Monarch binoculars improve low light performance. They feature bright, sharp colors. They are comfortable to carry around all day long. They are 100% fog proof and waterproof. I love the 25 Year Limited Warranty and No-Fault Repair/Replacement Policy. The binoculars are available in three sizes. I purchased the 8×42 because I found that it was the most versatile binocular available. The magnification great and the peripheral vision is good. They are easy to track birds with and the image is bright and crisp. They work well in low light conditions and in viewing fast moving objects.

I like the Nikon binoculars because of their many great features. These Nikon binoculars are 100% Waterproof. This is important because I travel to different places of the world and cannot let the weather prevent me from enjoying my binoculars. They are fog proof as well. This is very important for me to be able to capture chosen sights even when the forecast calls for fog. The binoculars are shockproof so I don’t have to worry about dropping my binoculars. They are designed for rugged use and are made with rubber. The images with these binoculars is very clear and they provide eye relief for extended periods.

The binoculars are light so I am not burdened with carrying them around for extensive periods. I am a eyeglass wearer and the binoculars work well with eyeglasses. The value of these binoculars are excellent. I was pleasantly surprised how well my binoculars functioned on my trip in the Amazon. I hike with them and can use them at dusk. They work well when it is overcast and even while it is drizzling. I find that they are easy to hold since they are lightweight.

Of course, there are more expensive and better binoculars for sale. However, when I compared binoculars before I bought mine, I found that the more expensive ones are heavier. They are better quality binoculars but not extremely better.

The hard, rubber-armor construction of the binoculars prevents them from becoming slippery when they get wet. This is a very important feature for me as I travel to different places of the world and I cannot be stuck in a hotel because it is wet outside. The binoculars feel solid but are light at the same time.

Basically, I found that these are the best binoculars I could have purchased for my price range. The cheaper binoculars would have been a waste of money as they do not have the features I require. When comparing them to more expensive binoculars my friends have, I find they are better than some of the more expensive binoculars.

These are the perfect binoculars for beginners like myself. I enjoy bird, wildlife and nature watching with these binoculars. Objects appear very close with these binoculars because of the high magnification.

Years ago these binoculars would have been unaffordable with the current features. They really are excellent binoculars for the price I paid. Their best feature is the close focus distance.

I am thoroughly pleased with my binoculars and will purchase a pair for my husband in the near future as he is always stealing them from me.

I can use these binoculars in the early morning and late evening as well. The brightness on these binoculars is truly amazing. I had a cheap pair of binoculars before I purchased these and will never go back because of the quality comparison. The sharpness and contrast on these binoculars are amazing. I can clearly see detail on a small object from a far distance even with low lighting. The binoculars are easy on my eyes because the retractable eyecups work well with my eyeglasses.

The neck strap is the only feature that I find is not too comfortable for long use. Therefore, I replaced the neck strap with a harness to prevent my neck from hurting and to prevent the binoculars from swinging around my neck.

All in all, I am pleased with my purchase and plan to enjoy my binoculars for many years to come. They truly are the best gift I ever bought myself.

Night owl binoculars reviews

Xgen 2.1x Digital Night Vision Viewer Review

Xgen 2.1x Digital Night Vision Viewer
  • Great Price
  • Programmed Settings
  • 20mm Lens
  • Minimum focus range = 3.3'

When I stepped in the store I was offered the Nexgen nightowl which I tests and worked perfectly, problem is they cost almost 4X as much. When I asked for something cheaper I was surprised by the Xgen model which had smaller but acceptable field of view at 200ft (40ft). The 2.1X zoom was also less than what the Nexgen could deliver but considering I am in a zoo it’s adequate since must animals are easily spotted within this range.

Among the reasons that make me consider this the best bargain nightvision binoculars is the fact it comes with programmed settings. Adjusting any imaging equipment is often a hurdle and you may think the equipment is poor while in reality you lack the skills to adjust it appropriately. The programmed settings are very useful and help with animals which sometimes scurry away. The settings mean I don’t have to fidget with it in front of the animals view but just press a button. I must say I never expected any deice to perform as well in poor light or darkness.

2.1X zoom is decent.
Light weight.
Programmed settings.

Poor battery consumption.

Xgen Digital Nightvision Analysis: For my assignment I needed something that could offer some nightvision viewing without forcing me to break the bank. I was more than happy to find that there is a good nightvision binoculars that costs less than $150…even normal binoculars can cost more than this. The Xgen nightvision viewer delivered good images from a decent distance of 100ft. This could be based on overall pricing, durability and performance.

Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular (5X) Reviews

Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular (5X)
  • Field of view: 200ft at 53ft
  • 2 electronic intensifier tubes inside stringer system for precision & control
  • Powerful built-in columnated IR illuminator provides clear & bright Viewing in complete darkness
  • High-quality, all Objective & ocular lenses
  • Generation 1 technology; 5X magnification

I am not eccentric or maybe I am but a good piece of equipment is just that and having one in my hands almost makes me jump. Anyway the current task at hand can best define why I believe the Nightowl is the best nightvision binoculars on the market today. First of cut the chatter and just focus on the word nightvision and add a 44ft field of view at 200 yards. I can investigate almost half a football field away and cover over ten meters with this. If that not enough the nightowl comes with 5X zoom. Just these features alone mean I could see the raccoon mile if he did so.

For anyone interested in nightvision binoculars battery life is an issue you will want to know about. The device uses a 3 volt battery which can operate for 40-80 hours depending on usage. With rechargeable batteries this means you I could use mine for 5 no 3 hour watches for close to two weeks without need for recharging. Nightvision equipment is used in the dark when temperatures are low and the rubber casing makes it excellent to use and hold even in these conditions. Just in case you get tired of holding it, the nightowl comes with a thick neck strap that ensures it won’t wear you down. I could go on forever about this thing, it just the best binoculars.

  • The 5x zoom.
  • Larger field of view and good range.
  • Good battery life.
